OPEN TO ANYONE
WHO:
Millicent and ?
WHAT: Detention in the Greenhouses
WHEN: Late afternoon, a bit before dinner
WHERE: Greenhouse 3
WHY: Sheer Boredom

Millicent wasn't surprised when she received detention on Friday afternoon. In fact she would have been surprised if she hadn't received it. Professor Sprout didn't take kindly to Millicent laughing her head off over a Hufflepuff near losing his arm to a Fanged Geranium. It was the funniest thing she'd seen in ages, so it was very much worth her first detention of the year.

She set off toward Greenhouse 3 after receiving her assignment from Sprout. Transplanting Flitterbloom didn't bother her, it was gathering the bubotuber puss that turned her stomach. The stench of the pus and the highly toxic nature was a bit more than Millicent was ready to deal with apparently. While working on her third plant one of the yellow pustules popped shooting the vile discharge across the room hitting someone else.

To say Tonks was taken off guard by the hit was an understatement. The young auror spun around to greet the culprit behind the 'attack' with a furrowed brow and a stern face - a face that held nothing resembling the woman's actual personality. Alright, it was a student serving detention - Tonks dropped her defensive mode and spelled away the gruesome pus, looking over at the girl. She didn't seem that bothered by spending part of her day off serving a detention. Tonks couldn't help but wonder why she'd gotten detention in the first place. Most stories like that were always fun to hear.

"Wotcher" Tonks said as she took a few strides across the green house to stand next to the girl and take in the rather vile plants. Sprout would've hexed her for just thinking they were vile - all plants are beautiful even the nasty ones. Tonks felt herself smile as she shook her head. "Detention, yeah? What'd you do to upset Sprout?"

It didn't bother Millicent at all that she'd hit someone with the bubortuber pus. In fact, she thought it was rather funny. That was of course until a woman she'd never seen before stood beside her. One of the Ministry's blasted aurors, she thought as she rolled her eyes at the woman's 'Wotcher.' She could only recall a couple of first years saying it until Zambini had a little chat with them.

Continuing her work, after briefly nodding a greeting. The disgusting smell of pus made it nearly impossible to concentrate on anything else, but as she slid her small herbology knife across the next leaf, she answered. "Funny that. Incident with an idiotic Hufflepuff nearly losing an arm to a Fanged Geranium."

Tonks watched as the girl continued to dig into the detention she had to serve. She didn't seem to be a pleasant sort of girl - or well, maybe she just wasn't pleasant to the aurors. Tonks could've been just as rude but it wasn't her place - the girl hadn't done anything wrong and you weren't supposed to take an attitude with the students - or well, at least that's what Tonks supposed.

When the girl explained the situationt that had led her to the green house Tonks frowned, well - that wasn't funny. That certainly wasn't worth a detention - maybe a good prank but that, no no. "So you've been sentanced to hack up plants for an hour or so then?" she replied, deciding not to argue the humor of the stated situation. It would lead no where, after all. And besides, she should just be pleasant to the girl after all there was no one else around to talk to.

Watching the pus drip into the waiting jar, took in a deep breath and held it. She let it out slow and easy before taking the jar and moving to the next plant. Millicent was slightly annoyed at the questions, but wasn't quite sure about the amount of authority the auror might have.

"Basically." Her answer was curt. She turned to study the auror. A bit younger than she imagined an auror to be, especially after the year of Defense against the Dark Arts with Mad Eye Moody. Millicent drew herself to her full height and looked down on the woman. "Not my first detention. Probably not my last."

Tonks could easily recognize what Millicent was doing - she was measuring her up. It was easy for Nymphadora to decipher that now - she was used to it. After all, Nymphadora Tonks was not your average auror. A woman with such a small frame and unusually bright pink hair stood out against people like Kingsley - there was no way to stop it. Either way, Tonks had been eyed plenty of times by others who tried to determine whether Tonks deserved respect or mockery. Most of the time it was a mix of the two, after all she was still young and she had yet to climb her way up the rungs of respect.

"Yeah?" she replied, obviously not impressed by how easily the girl could twist her arm and break it as she revealed her full height. The good thing about being a witch was that it didn't matter how you were built, how you looked, nothing physical mattered. It you were intelligent you got a lot further then those who were simply stronger in their physical build. "I received an abundance of detentions when I went to school here, they were never for laughing at some one though." Tonks said in an entirely pleasant tone as she continued to scan the rows of plants. "Sprout never gave me a task like this though - you're laughing must've been an awful bother otherwise you would've gotten something a bit easier. I always had to re-pot things when it came to Sprout." she replied, sharing a useless story with Millicent as she took her eyes off the plants and looked at the taller girl.

Millicent didn't give into the urge to roll her eyes this time. Instead she kept her gaze steady on the auror. Did her story have some point? Oh, she understood now. Even if your a bit of a screw up in school, you too might get the chance to chase down the evil of the magical world. Millicent was much more than a bit of a screw up. She didn't really give a damn about anyone but herself, and she really didn't have much of a problem with the evil in the magical realm.

"I really don't know what you're hoping to accomplish here, but it's not working." Millicent said with more than a hint of being unimpressed in her voice.

Tonks quirked a smile at the girl's obvious disapproval of her; for once in her life, Tonks was older than her and held more authority but she refused to be one of those figures that waved it in her face. "Absolutely nothing, actually." Tonks informed her in a happy tone, running a finger along one of the potted plants. "I was actually hoping to pass time and I think I did." Tonks said, rather proud of herself as she scanned the greenhouse once more. "My round here is up, so I'll leave you too it then uh.." Nymphadora realized then she had never caught the girls name but it didn't matter if she gave it to her - she'd find out eventually. "Have a good day I suppose then. Nice meeting you." she said with a bright, chipper smile as she gave the girl a pleasant wave and popped off.
