Who: Hannah Abbott and Eli Summerby.
What: Doing what best friends do.
Where: Hufflepuff commons of course!
When: 11ish pm.
Why: Cause they've got things to do and each other to see!


Hannah only had a handful of best friends; the kind of friends that would pull themselves out of bed or abandon their favorite game/past time/hobby/etc. just to see if she was alright. Hannah loved them, she loved them all to death. To her, they were more like family and she was growing accustomed to it. Without including Terry, all of her best friends were Hufflepuffs - of course, the best of the best was Eli. Elijah Summerby was the very first person Hannah had ever spoken to upon entering her career at Hogwarts. I believe her first words to him were stammered, and stuttered, and sounded something like "Can I sit here? All the compartments are full." And upon him saying yes, an unbreakable bond was forged.

Since then, they had been sorted into the same house, given the same classes, and spent over half of their years together since age 11. I suppose you could say they were best friends. Hannah told Eli everything, absolutely everything. The only thing she hadn't said a word to him about was mother but she already had Terry to talk to about that and while she felt guilty about not telling Eli it just felt wrong to talk to more then one person about it. She wasn't sure why but it just did, so she hadn't talked to Eli about it. She also hadn't talked to him about Terry Boot.. yet.

Hannah had pulled a light sweater on over her tee shirt and glanced around the room. The magical clock to her left said 11:20 but Eli had told her to meet him in the Commons so she would. She carefully tip toed across the floor, creaking only a few floorboards as she made a beeline for the door. Once she was safely outside she felt a weight lift off her shoulders and she silently crept down the stairs and fell with an 'oomph' into the sofa cushions. It was only about a minute later that she heard Eli creeping down the staircase and she grinned. "It's about time Summerby."

Eli couldn't help but smile as she said it was about time. He wore grey warm up pants, and a black sweater. His hair was a mess, but he didn't mind, Hannah had probably seen him worse. She was his best friend, his only best friend actually. They'd met on the train ride, she wanted to sit with him, and being the gentleman he was, he let her with a smile. He could tell she was nervous, so he made conversation, and they soon became inseperable. Eli sat down in the armchair just next to her and looked over at her. "You," he started with a grin. "Are telling me all about what happened." Eli said with another smile and laughed quietly.

Hannah told him everything, and if she didn't he'd make her. She didn't talk to him about her mum, and he wondered why. But, he'd give her time, and maybe she tell him later. He knew some people needed time for these things, and Hannah was upset when her mum died. Of course, everybody would if their mum died. Elijah's mind raced, thinking about what happened last year, what she might've done for that detention when she broke his thoughts with an explanation for her detention.

Hannah smiled and watched him as he made his way over to the arm chair beside her. "I am. I am." she said with a nod as her mind began to piece together the previous nights events. How would she tell him? She hadn't ever really mentioned Terry before, aside from saying that he was cute or nice or something like that that would indicate how she felt without actually saying it - so how would she bring this up? She hadn't even told Eli about the day she'd spent on the pitch with Terry. She felt so guilty that she hadn't made time to talk to him until now. The butterflies were welling up in her stomach as she searched for a good way to start.

"I offered to help Terry." Hannah finally said, looking at him for a second as a grin slid across her face and she had to look down as she twisted her hands together. "So I did, I found him and I fixed his shirt. Some first years ruined it and he couldn't get the stains out so I helped." Hannah continued, filling him in with useless details as she made her way along. "So one, two, three and the shirt was fixed because, as you well know, I am a genius." she joked with a small laugh. "And so then well" she chewed on her lower lip. "so what -- and well -- okay so." Hannah started tripping over words, mixing up consquences and vowels and finally she sighed and said, "so he kissed me." She felt her face warm up and her smile grow bigger and she continued to stare at her lap "and then we talked a bit and then well -- well then it happened again and" she paused, twisting her fingers togetehr "and again and" she swallowed nervously, this was a bit embaressing. "well, an auror found us." she finally blurted out.

Eli couldn't help but grin as she told him what she did. He stiffled a laugh and shook his head. "When will you learn that snogging is for broom closets?" he asked with a toothy grin and then laughed softly again. "And this was with Terry Boot?" he asked with another smile. He knew she liked him, and for a while for that matter. Hannah probably enjoyed what had happened. "Which auror?" he asked curiously. He hoped it was Tonks, she was the nicest out of them all. He'd run into her after he was at the library doing homework, and she let him off with a warning since it was the second day of school. He wondered why she hadn't let them off with a warning, maybe because they weren't doing homework.

As his mind raced he looked back at Hannah who was blushing. "So, when's your detention?" he asked with a smile. Hannah got a detention, and it was her last year. Eli had yet to get one. Well, he did get one his first year, but that was ridiculous. He wasn't even doing anything. Eli looked down and then up at Hannah. "And is it with Mr. Boot?" he asked with a grin.

Hannah looked up at him and let out a soft laugh. "I should've remembered." she said, offering him a grin despite her pinkish blush. "And, yes." she said, trying to bite back her growing smile but it didn't work, "Yes, it was with Terry Boot." she felt her hands twisting together as she crossed her ankles and watched her friend. "Um, it was." she paused trying to remember the auror's name. Had she introduced herself? "She had pink hair." she noted, trying to pull up a name. "Do you know her? She was nice but she gave us detention all the same. Not too bad though"

When was their detention anyway? Hannah had already forgotten, she'd have to double check.. again. "It's soon and yes I do have it with Terry." she said, quirking another smile. "He wants to walk a bit after" she said before she felt her smile falter, "Is that good or bad? Cause, I mean, it could be good but what if it's bad. Say, what if he decided he didn't like me at all cause then I'd be -- and it'd -- that'd be bad." she said, Eli already knew Hannah was prone to fits of panic over things like this. She raised her bright green eyes up to look at Eli, questioningly. The good thing about having a boy for a best friend was they could answer just about every question you threw their way except for -- you know -- girl things.

He nodded at her comment and grinned. "I mean, almost every night you're out snogging someone." he added in with a smile. Eli watched her hands twisting together and laughed softly. "Tonks." he said quietly with a nod. "Yeah, that's Tonks." Eli continued on and sighed. Hannah was obviously so nervous or awkward talking about this she'd forgotten the auror's name. Sad, but it was funny to Eli, he hardly ever saw her like this about a boy ever.

He watched her smile slowly falter and raised a brow. "If anything, it's good Hannah. He probably wants to talk about what happened and maybe...do it again." he advised her and felt a grin pulling at his lips. This was a normal conversation for them both. She asked, and he gave answers, or he asked, and she gave answers. They did talk about other stuff, but Eli liked these kinds, they actually communicated and told each other stuff that they knew they could trust them with.

Hannah reached out and playfully hit his arm, practically falling off the sofa in the process of doing so. Once she had regained her balance she flashed him a childish grin and shook her head, "Jerk." she said with a light laugh as she sat up more, tucking her legs underneath her and facing herself in Eli's direction. She really didn't mind how late it was becoming because it didn't matter. It was Hannah and Eli and when they started talking it was a timeless ordeal. Nothing else mattered.

Hannah smiled brightly at her friend, that was exactly what she wanted to hear. She felt her lips pull up imensely, her smile turning into a grin as she bit her lower lip. "So" she said "I um" Hannah paused, "I think I have a thing for Terry Boot then, yeah?" she said letting out a soft laugh as she look at Eli. She was glad he was her best friend, in fact she got very protective of him when it came down to it. Hannah didn't have any siblings but Eli was her brother, and nothing would change that.

Eli flinched at her hitting him and shook his head. "That's abuse. I can call the Child Abuse Center on you." he said with a nod and a firm face. But, he couldn't hold it long and grinned at her almost falling. He almost put out his arm to shove her all the way off, but decided not to. This was fun, even though it was late, almost eleven thirty, he liked talking to Hannah. Time flew by when they talked, it seemed like there wasn't anything else but just them talking and having the best time.

He listened as she stumbled over her words and laughed. "Well, if you were kissing, I'm hoping you aren't using him Ms Abbott." he replied with a laugh and shook his head. "And, I'm guessing he likes you, so, you should do something with him after your lovely detention." he continued and blinked a few times. He stiffled a yawn and ran a hand through his messy dark hair. Eli's hair got so messy after he already lied down, or after he finished homework. During homework, he usually ran a hand through his hair constantly with frustration.

"But you wouldn't because you'd be lost without me." she pointed out, sticking her tongue out at him before giving him a sweet smile and tucking her hair behind her ear. Hannah wasn't sure how much time had passed but she didn't care. Did they have school tomorrow? She didn't know, she was too busy thinking over everything that school wasn't a concern which was very unusual for her.

Hannah laughed and shook her head. "No worries, my intentions are pure." she said with another smile. It felt good to talk to Eli about all of this. He was the voice of reason, the vote of confidence; he took whatever Hannah was thinking and straightened it out for her with the greatest of ease. Sometimes she couldn't help but wonder how he did it. "I will." she said finally, looking over at Eli with a smile. "I will." she repeated, looking down at her lap. "I really do like him." she said softly, "I really do."

Eli grinned and nodded. "True. I'd be utterly lost and confused without a Hannah Abbott in my life." he agreed and scrunched his face up at her. Today was...well he thought it was Saturday. But, Eli was never really right when it came to the days of the week. He was always a day behind. So, he usually just said it was the weekend and then asked a Hufflepuff what day it was.

"Pure...meaning?" he asked with a small smirk and then glanced at teh fire that crackled. He listened to her saying she would, and that she really liked him. Eli smiled at her and nodded his head. "I can tell. I think Terry really likes you too Han." he said quietly and ruffled her hair. "Does he know?" he asked curiously.

Hannah shrugged, "I -- well, I think so. I never really said it." she admitted, looking over at Eli. "Should I tell him - or should it just be an unspoken thing or - I don't know. I'm really bad at this." she said as she looked over at him. "I can maneuver my way around the library like no other but, well, I'm bad at everything else." Hannah informed Eli with a nod before quickly adding in "Except Quidditch, I'm rather exceptional at Quidditch."

Turning her attention to the crackling fire, Hannah watched the flames dance and spark and wondered how much things would change this next week. So much was different already - she didn't know what to do. She gently bit her lower lip as she thought about it, eagerly awaiting Eli's response.

He grinned as she stumbled around with her words and sighed. "If you want a relationship with him, you should probably let him know." he replied with a nod and watched her. "We're Hufflepuffs, all Hufflepuffs can move around the library," he started with a nod and laughed. "That you are Hannah." he agreed and nodded. "You're brilliant at Quidditch." he added in.

Eli looked at the fire also, watching the flames dancing around. The orange sparked, and small orange coals the size of a bug flew out and landed on the stone. He smiled softly and glanced at Hannah. "You should talk to him, he'll probably tell you what you're going to tell him." he advised her and smiled.

"Ah, I know. You're my biggest fan." She said, tilting her head in acknowledgement towards him before laughing softly. "My one and only Eli, my very best friend." She said with a firm nod, "I love you, I do I do." she said with a bright smile as she pulled her legs out from underneath her and swung them at the foot of the sofa.

When he opened his mouth and told Hannah what was what, Hannah felt reassured and she nodded. "Alright, I'll tell him." she said as she crossed and uncrossed her ankles. "I'll tell him and then I'll tell you what he told me." she said with a nervous smile, looking back over at Eli.

Eli laughed and nodded. "I'm your biggest fan, and you're my biggest fan." he added with a grin. "Y'know you're my only best friend, and my first. Isn't that weird?" he asked and quirked his head a bit. "Sadly, over the years I've had...two relationships. One with you being my best friend." he said with a nod and sighed.

"Good, you better tell him soon then." he said back with a firm face but broke out and smiled at her. "Will you know? You won't wait till I bug you about it?" he asked curiously with a smile. She usually told him things right away, but, he wasn't sure if she'd wait on this one. You never knew with Hannah.

Hannah smiled at the Eli, getting up from her spot on the sofa to wrap the dark haired boy up in a big hug. Afterward she proceeded to perch herself on the arm of the chair he was sitting in and fix her face with a giant, childish grin. "I'm fond of our friendship." she informed him with a nod. "It takes up my entire heart, like 99.9% of it. I swear." she said with a nod as she patted Eli on the shoulder.

"Oh, you'll see." she said in a mischievious voice. "You'll wait and see, and see and wait. And by the end of it all - you'll know!" she said with a laugh, "That didn't make sense, in other words! I'll tell you ASAP."

Eli's eyes followed her and he shook his head as she sat down and informed him about their friendchip. "Really? I hate it actually." he joked and poked at her side. "The one percent is for Terry right?" he asked with a grin and waited for her to hit him.

"How long is this waiting and seeing process?" he asked with a sigh and ruffled her hair. When she said she'd tell him ASAP he laughed and nodded. "Sounds good to me. So, as soon as you tell him you'll run back and tell me?" he asked with a smile.

Hannah laughed and shook her head, playfully elbowing him in the side. "One day, when we're really old and you start to shrink - I'll be taller than you and that's when I'll take you down." she said in all seriousness with a firm nod before grinning.

"Oh yes, I'll confess my heart and soul to him and then I'll say 'Wow, awesome, excuse me while I go tell my friend Eli. Wait here, okay?'" she laughed, "Oh, the romance in that!"

"Hey! If anything you'll shrink. Woman always shrink, men stay the same size." he said with a smile and squinted his eyes. "I'll take you down. The old people fighting, includes canes, walkers, wrinkly hands, and...that's it I think." he said with a nod.

"Good. I come before everyone right?" he asked with a cheesy smile and laughed. "Romance isn't everything Hannah, friends come before everything. Even snogging Terry Boot." he said with a grin.

"Tell that to my grandpa!" Hannah said, defensively "and you wish! I could take you down right now if I wanted too but it'd wound your manhood and I would never do that to you. My heart would well with pain - not guilt!"

"Of course." she said with a bright smile as she sat there before she laughed and shook her head. "My life in order is number one, Eli - number two, everything else.. or maybe Terry's number 2 and then number three is everything else. Yeah. that's it." she said with a triumphant grin.

Eli felt his mouth drop open and he quickly closed it. "How rude." he said in a girly tone and crossed his arms across his chest. But, he quickly grinned and started to tickle the girl on the arm of his chair.

"So I come before the snogging partner?" he asked excitedly and smiled. "Well, mine is, number one - Hannah, number two - my cat, and number three - everyone else." he said with a nod and grinned cheesily at her.

Hannah started laughing hysterically, nearly falling off the couch when he started tickling her but instead falling into him. When he finally stopped she pushed him and pulled herself off his lap and back onto the arm of the chair. "Idiot." she said, still laughing as she playfully shook her head at him. "I'll get you when you least expect it, just you wait and see!"

"Of course." Hannah said with a bright smile. "You know, it's been that way since 1991, it can't change now!" she said with a laugh as she looking at the boy and reached over, playfully messing up his hair.

Eli laughed as she fell onto him, covering his hands. His head leaned back as he laughed and she finally moved. "Idiot? I'm not an idiot." he protested with a grin and shook his head. "I'm always awake, and I can see things if I sleep. You'll never get me." he said in a deep tone and gave her a scrunched up face look.

"1991? Ah yes, 1991." he said with a nod and pretended to think back to that date. Eli scrunched his face as she messed up his hair and sighed. "Y'know, that isn't helping my hair at all. It was already messy." he said and ran a hand through his hair. One went upand ruffled hers just as she did with his.

"Okay, keep telling yourself that. Maybe one day it will come true." she said in an affectionate voice, gently patting his cheek and nodding with a soft motherly smile plastered on her face. Of course, this charade only lasted about a minute before she started laughing at his next comment. She shook her head, "I'll get you and you'll have to bow to my every beck and call for a day."

"It was a good year" she said fondly as she smiled at him and nodded before she grinned as he reached up and mussed with her hair. She didn't bother to fix it though. Instead she grabbed his skinny wrists with one hand and used the other the do a number on his dark locks.

Eli laughed and shook his head. "You have much to learn young padawon." he said softly. Eli loved Star Wars. His neighbor introduced it to him when he was seven, and his dog died. He said it'd cheer him up, and the boy was right. Eli watched it and learned that Star Wars was the best.

He struggled to get his wrists free, but as soon as he did he stood up, and gave her a noogie. "Noogie noogie for my best friend!" he said with a grin and let her go. Eli laughed looked at Hannah, her hair sticking up everywhere.

Hannah laughed and gently shoved him. "Oh shut up, I'm a jedi master - you're not even on the council and I win!" she said with a triumphant grin as she poked him in the chest. Hannah had only recently been introduced to Star Wars by her muggle neighbor but she knew just as much as he did! Or, at least, she thought she did.

Hannah wasn't expecting to get a noogie and while she desperately tried to break free it was too late. "Oooo! You!" she said in a playfully angry voice. "I'll get you and I mean right now not later, now!" Hannah stood there for a moment before she attempted to get him down by jumping on his back, unfortunately, that resulted in her slipping and falling with a thump and a groan.

Eli gaped at her and shook his head. "Don't insult Chewy." he said with a nod and smirked at her. "He can eat you." he boasted with a small grin. Even though Chewy was an animal of some sort, he was amazing. Eli was always a big fan of Chewbacca and Han Solo.

When he felt Hannah attempt to jump on his back he laughed and nearly fell over with her, but landed on the couch. He started to laugh as she sat on the ground, with her messy hair. She looked funny.

"I'll crush you with the force and be done with you. Flit away." Hannah said, inspecting her cuticles in a careless manner before she looked up at her best friend with a grin. She threw her arm around his shoulders and gave him a squeeze and a big smile.

Hannah started laughing as he did, "Shut up Eli" she wheezed out between laughs before relinquishing herself andd laying back on the floor to continue laughing.

"Whatever. Chewy can take you down like a man. He'll whip out his gun and take you out." he said with a nod and felt her hug him. "Hey...Chewy doesn't hug anyone but Han...but, since your name is so close." he said with a grin and hugged her back with a squeeze.

Eli laughed as she flopped down on the ground and felt his stomach aching as he laughed. When he heard a harsh 'sh' come from the dorms he frowned and propped himself up with his elbows. "You sh!" he called back and threw a pillow at the staircase, but missed as it hit the railing and bounced onto the ground.

Hannah laughed and shook her head. "That's very generous of you. I'm gld my parents named me Hannah so years later I would be able to enjoy this wonderful hug from you." she said with a grin, as she gently elbowed him in the side.

When Hannah heard the shh, she was about to shut up but then Eli responded before she did and his horrible miss only spurred more laughter. "Oh, nice shot Chewy. You sure you kow how to play Quidditch?"

Eli jerked back as she elbowed him and he huffed a sigh. "I'm glad you were named Hannah so you can be compared to a guy." he said with a grin and felt some of his hair fall into his vision.

"Yes! I'm sure. I'm in an awkward position, that's all." he said with a nod and picked up another pillow, tossing it at the stairs again, and finally it flew up and he heard it land on the top. "See." he said triumphantly.
